Welcome To The CPFFA Website
The Cambridge Professional Fire Fighters' Association, Local 499, consists of 130 dedicated and committed team members serving the citizens of the City of Cambridge since 1973. Our Association is honoured to serve, protect and assist our community in many different capacities, from our sworn obligations to the fire service, Muscular Dystrophy fundraising, Christmas Basket Fund and our Benevolent Fund.
We are Trusted and Valued in Our Community. Have a look at the work out brothers and sisters from the London Professional Fire Fighters Association did to help increase awareness of PTSD.
In 2015 we managed to raise just over $28,000 for Muscular Dystrophy while being rained out 3 hours earlier than scheduled. With the support of our generous community we have been able to donate in excess of HALF A MILLION DOLLARS to Muscular Dystrophy Canada. Our community partners from Scotia Bank were recognized for the Dr. Green award for community partnerships to support fundraising for Muscular Dystrophy research and assisting families here in Cambridge.
The members of the CPFFA have been honoured to recieve the MD Canada Danielle Campo Award twice for their efforts in the fight against MD recently in 2013, and previously in 2011.
In 2012 our MD committee chair Keith Clarke was awarded the prestigious award as Firefighter of the year in Ontario by MD Canada due to his involvement and our committee's fundraising efforts over the last few years.
The Cambridge Firefighters Christmas Basket Fund has assisted families in our community enjoy Christmas dinner and provided presents for their children. Annually we work to raise nearly $40,000 to help provide Christmas food baskets including parishable items for approximately 550 families. This 93 year old tradition has helped over 20,000 families.
Our Benevolent Fund assists people and groups from our community that require financial assistance in their time of need. We have given an average of $6,000 per year for many years. Our members commit to this financial obligation to give something back to our great community.
Without the dedication of our members and their families we would not be able to help so many people in our community. Thank you to our members and their families!
